The End of Dual Roadway (straight on) road sign (W117) is a W Series road layout warning sign used to alert drivers that a dual carriageway arrangement is ending ahead, with traffic converging back into fewer lanes. It provides advance warning of a lane reduction and merge condition.
Purpose and function
This sign warns drivers to prepare for the end of the dual roadway and to adjust speed and positioning to merge safely. It reduces the likelihood of sudden lane changes, conflict, and braking at the taper.
