The Priority Crossroad on Non-Priority Road road sign (W103) is a road layout warning sign used to alert drivers that a crossroad is ahead and that the road they are travelling on is not the priority route through the intersection. The sign graphic indicates the priority carriageway, supporting correct yielding behaviour and safer decision-making.
Purpose and function
This sign warns drivers that they may need to yield at the crossroad. It improves understanding of right-of-way where intersection layouts are complex or where the priority route is not obvious from approach geometry.
Typical applications
- Rural crossroads where priority is assigned to a different route
- Intersections with limited visibility or higher approach speeds
- Areas where drivers may assume incorrect right-of-way
Selection and placement guidance
- Install in advance of the intersection to allow safe speed adjustment
- Ensure the sign is clearly visible and not obstructed on approach
- Use with appropriate regulatory control signs and road markings as required
Temporary alternative
This sign is also available for short-term traffic control where conditions are not normal:
