The Pedestrian Priority road sign (R5) is an R1 Series control sign used to indicate the start of a pedestrian priority area. It restricts general vehicle access and reinforces that pedestrians have preference within the signed zone.
Purpose and function
This sign defines an area where pedestrian movement takes priority and vehicle access is limited to specific authorised use cases. It helps create safer shared spaces in precincts, campuses, and public environments where walking activity is concentrated.
