The Yield road sign (R2) is an R Series regulatory control sign used to instruct drivers to slow down and give way to other road users where required. It is commonly installed at intersections, traffic circles, and merging points where priority must be clearly communicated.
Purpose and function
This sign reduces conflict at intersections by clearly defining right-of-way requirements. It allows traffic to flow without unnecessary stopping while ensuring drivers are prepared to yield when other vehicles or pedestrians have priority.
Typical applications
- Intersections with controlled priority
- Traffic circles and roundabout approaches
- Merging lanes and access points
- Areas with restricted sight distance or high cross-traffic
Commonly used with
- Stop road sign (R1)
- Yield at mini-circle road sign (R2.2)
- Traffic Circle warning sign (W201)
- Traffic Control Yield Ahead warning sign (W303)
