The Skew T-Junction (Left) road sign (W106) is a road layout warning sign used to alert drivers that a skewed T-junction is located ahead, with the intersecting road joining at an angle and the primary alignment continuing with a left bias. It is used where junction geometry is not a standard right-angle layout and drivers need earlier recognition.
Purpose and function
This sign warns drivers that an intersection is approaching where cross traffic or turning movements may occur at an unexpected angle. It supports earlier speed adjustment and improved scanning, particularly where visibility of the junction is limited.
Typical applications
- Rural and regional roads with non-standard junction geometry
- Approaches to angled intersections with reduced sight distance
- Areas where the intersection may not be obvious from the approach alignment
Temporary alternative
This sign is also available for short-term traffic control where conditions are not normal:
