The Danger Plate with Speed Hump, left (W417) is a high-visibility supplementary warning plate used to emphasise a hazard, in this case speed humps, with the hump symbol positioned to the left relative to the sign placement. It is used to improve early recognition where additional emphasis is needed.
Purpose and function
This plate reinforces the presence of speed humps and supports earlier speed reduction. It is commonly used where drivers require extra notice, such as higher approach speeds, limited sight lines, or repeated hump sets.
Typical applications
- Approaches to traffic calming zones and residential streets
- School and pedestrian priority areas where vehicles must slow down
- Industrial sites and depots with internal speed control points
